Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) governorship candidate in Katsina State, Hon. Imran Ja’afar Jino has challenged all contestants to present their drug integrity test results to the public.

He made the call on Saturday during a press conference in Katsina State, saying the move is to ensure that drug addicts are not elected into political office next year.

The PRP candidate also announced that he has been tested and declared a drug-free candidate by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), adding that he had undergone three integrity-related tests in three consecutive months at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina.

“I submitted myself to integrity test following several calls from all quarters across the state and country at large, that people aspiring for various political office positions should go for integrity test,” he said.

“The issue of drug abuse among the youths of reproductive age in Katsina State is becoming alarming and disturbing with about 90 percent of people between the ages of 15 to 40 years engaged in the practice.

“This is indeed ruining the largest part of our teeming youths because it’s making a lot of damages in terms of security and productivity in whatever capacity.

“With this, I am giving Katsina citizens confidence that NDLEA has given me a certificate on integrity test that I am not found abusing any drug substance. I am very much prepared to lead them.”

If elected as the governor, Ja’afar-Jino pledged would steer the affairs of the state with honesty and sincerity, adding that he has plans to move the state to a level where it can compete with developed cities in the world in terms of development, empowerment and infrastructure.

He also called on candidates to ensure peaceful conduct of the forthcoming campaigns which he said will bring solutions to the myriads of challenges facing people in the state.
