2023: YPP’s Edeh Vows To End Godfatherism In Enugu

Mr Bethel Edeh

The Enugu governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), Bethel Edeh has said his party is positioned to end imposition of candidates, vote buying and godfatherism in the 2023 elections.

Edeh made the comment when he was received by party faithful at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu.

According to Mr Edeh, the youths are ready to take back the state from parties that have rigged them out and turn them to political thugs.

If elected, Mr Edeh said his administration will build industries across the 17 local governments and create a minimum of 2,000 jobs in each area council.

“My plans for Enugu State is to change the whole structure because since 1999 we have not had true democracy,” Mr Edeh said. “We are always limited to a few selected choices of the God-fathers.

“Thank God for a party like YPP that has given me the platform to run, YPP is a combination of tired and angry youth who want to change the status quo. When you look at the existing system, they have made politics so expensive for young people to fund.

“Since 1999, Godfatherism has been in place but I’m here to change it. They keep reshuffling the old people and when you ask for empowerment, they give you handout instead of full empowerment. Their type of empowerment had birthed waste of resources and political sycophancy.

“I’m here to change it, I will bring industrialization to Enugu State, each local government will have an industry capable of employing at least 2000 youths. If you calculate it by 17 local government, that’s over 32,000 employed. And more indirect employment will be created.”
