Muslim-Muslim Ticket: Every Christian Free To Make A Choice – Archbishop Onaiyekan

The Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja, His Eminence, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, has described the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket as a party’s political decision, a calculation to win the 2023 General Election.

According to him, this decision is not a hard and fast rule for all Nigerians to abide by, and as such, the citizens have the right to determine the pattern of voting and who they want as their leader come 2023.

Bishop Onaiyekan made this known at the ongoing First Synod of the Catholic Diocese of Osogbo held at the St. Kizito Pastoral Centre, Ede, Osun State.

Delivering his address titled: “The Church as an Agent of Dialogue and Reconciliation In Our Community In Quest For a Just and Peaceful Social Order,” he stressed that every Christian, like other Nigerians, would have to take their own decision on the political party to vote for,) stressing that Catholic wouldn’t direct who to support during electioneering.

While explaining that there’s a reason for plurality of faith and beliefs as ordained by God, Archbishop Onaiyekan stressed that Nigeria should use the diversity of faith to promote unity through an open channel of dialogue

The bishop urged religious leaders to encourage interfaith collaboration among religious beliefs to discuss challenges and find a lasting solution to the incessant religious clashes.

Other religious leaders including the Grand Iman of Osun State, Sheikh Musa Animosha, and the Secretary General of the International council of Ifa, Dr Abiodun Fafolarin urged Nigerian irrespective of their religious believe to continue to trail the path of peace for a prosperous, harmonious, and peaceful society.

They submitted that true practice of godly religion does not support or bring negative sentiments of, hatred and victimization of others

The religious leaders present urged their counterparts across the country to come together and address individual differences to promote the internal condition of the society for a peaceful society.
