Police Arrest 10 Suspects Including Ex-Step Mother That Killed Her Step Son In Katsina

An 18-year-old ex-stepmother, Maryam Habibu, of Leko village in Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State has been arrested and paraded by the police for killing her stepson Jamilu Rabi’u, ‘M’, aged 4yrs of Illallawa village in Kafur Local Government Area of the State.

An 18-year-old ex-stepmother, Maryam Habibu, of Leko village in Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State has been arrested and paraded by the police for killing her stepson Jamilu Rabi’u, ‘M’, aged 4yrs of Illallawa village in Kafur Local Government Area of the State.

Habibu was arrested on November 9th, 2022 at about 2200hrs, after she threw the boy into a well after the suspect went to the house of her ex-husband and lured the little boy into a nearby area and threw the deceased into a Well.

The police spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, while parading the suspects before the command headquarters in Katsina on Friday explained that the suspect during the police interrogation confessed to the commission of the crime. stating that her action was destined by God and not borne out of jealousy.

The police also arrested a 25-year-old classroom teacher, Umar Isah, ‘M’, of a private primary school in Mashi Local Government Area of the State for luring his students into the school’s toilet and inserting his finger into their private parts.

Isah was arrested on November 10th 2022 at about 1000hrs after four persons namely (1) Hussaina Rabe ‘f’ (2) Basira Umar ‘f’ (3) Khalid Ibrahim ‘f’ and (4) Zainab Ibrahim ‘f’ all of Shargalle village, Dutsi LGA of Katsina State, jointly reported at Dutsi Division against the suspect alleging that on different dates and time, the suspect took advantage of the age of their daughters (names withheld) and lured them into the school’s toilet and inserted his finger into their private parts.

In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offence as an investigation is ongoing.

In the meantime, the command has arrested a 50-year-old ward head identified as Mallam Surajo Madawaki, ‘M’, of Gobirawa village in Faskari LGA of the state who conspired with terrorists and killed a farmer.

“On 19/10/2022 at about 0900hrs, a distress call was received that one Yahaya Danbai, ‘M’, aged 35yrs of Gobirawa village, Faskari LGA of Katsina state, was attacked by a suspected terrorist with AK 47 rifle while working in his farmland at the outskirt of the village.

“The farmer summoned courage and overpowered his assailant, disarmed him and killed the terrorist. He took the recovered AK 47 rifle and went to the house of his Ward Head, (Maiunguwa), One Mallam Surajo Madawaki, ‘M’, aged 50yrs of Gobirawa village, Faskari.

“Subsequently, the Ward Head, instead of reporting the matter to the Police, he then called one Hamisu, a notorious terrorist and leader of the killed terrorist, reported the incident to him and handed over the recovered AK 47 rifle to him.

“Consequently, the terrorists’ gang leader Hamisu, mobilized his gang, surrounded the village, brought out the gallant farmer and killed him instantly. Furthermore, the terrorists then placed a ten million naira (N10,000,000:00K) ransom on the community for killing one of their members by the late farmer Yahaya Danbai or they will come back and kill everybody in the village.

“Since then, the said Ward Head, Surajo Madawaki, went into hiding, until when he was eventually arrested by a team of policemen. In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offence. An investigation is ongoing.

“On 05/11/2022 at about 1700hrs, the Command succeeded in arresting one Kamala Bishir, ‘M’, aged 19yrs of Yartsaku village, Tsafe LGA of Zamfara State, a suspected notorious informant and errand boy of a syndicate of terrorists, terrorizing Faskari LGA of Katsina state.

“Nemesis caught up with the suspect when he was accosted ridding on a Boxer motorcycle, red in colour, while on his way into the forest to deliver a message to terrorists.

“In the course of an investigation, the suspect confessed to be an informant and errand boy of a notorious terrorist, one Hamisu, ‘M’, of Munhayen Daji, Zamfara state. He further confessed that the said motorcycle was bought for him by the said terrorists’ leader, for the purpose of running errands for him.

“On 08/11/2022 at about 0800hrs, the command succeeded in arresting one Harisu Adamu, ‘M’ aged 35yrs of Gobirawa Jiba village, Danja LGA, a notorious suspected kidnapper and informant to bandits.

“The following victims; one (1) Falalu Dauda (2) Suleiman Ibrahim (3) Alh Mustapha Dauda (4) Ghali Halliru (5) Usman Hassan and (6) Alh Mustapha Dauda, jointly reported that about four (4) months ago, armed terrorists trespassed into their residences and kidnapped them to an unknown destination. In the course of the investigation, the suspect was arrested.

“He confessed to the commission of the offences and stated that, has been receiving his own share of the proceeds of the kidnappings the recent one was the one hundred thousand (100,000.00) naira that he received as a result of the information he gave leading to the kidnapping of one of the victims. The investigation is ongoing.

“On the 13/11/2022 at about 1600hrs, based on a tip-off, the command succeeded in arresting the trio of (1) Suleiman Haruna, ‘M’, aged 20yrs of Unguwar Ali Kere village, Faskari LGA (2) Musa Ibrahim, ‘M,’ aged 19yrs of Dungu village, Faskari LGA and (3) Abubakar Iliyasu, ‘M’, aged 19yrs of Unguwar Jirgi village, Tsafe LGA of Zamfara state.

“Nemesis caught up with the suspects when they were accosted at Yankara village by Police Patrol Team attached to Faskari Division. In the course of the investigation, suspects confessed to being armed terrorists-bandits, under the camp of notorious terrorist gang leaders, Kachalla Bazamfare and Kachalla Ibrahim Na Bako camps operating in Katsina and Zamfara states.

“They further confessed to having participated in a series of attacks leading to culpable homicides, kidnappings, cattle rustlings and armed robberies in villages such as Unguwar Goga, and Unguwar Maijego among others within Faskari LGA and its environs. The investigation is ongoing.

“On the 2/11/2022 at about 2130hrs, the command succeeded in arresting one Mustapha Lawal alias “CHASKALE”, ‘M’, aged 27yrs of Dangaladima road, Daura town, Daura LGA, a suspected notorious armed robber/motor vehicle snatcher. Nemesis caught up with the suspect when he was accosted by men of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit at Maimujiya village, Niger Republic.

“In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to being a member of a notorious car snatching ring, headed by one Muhammed Lawal Ibrahim, alias “Abba Kala”, they specialize in breaking into dwelling houses, attacking and robbing them off of their motor vehicles.

“The suspect relocated to the Niger Republic to evade arrest when he learnt that their syndicate was busted by the Police in the month of August 2022, where about thirteen (13) motor vehicles were recovered.

“The suspect confessed to having participated in several armed robberies in the Katsina metropolis. An investigation is ongoing.

“On 05/11/2022 at about 1300hrs, the Command succeeded in arresting Auwalu Tasi’u, aged 25yrs of Kadisau village, Faskari LGA, a suspected notorious terrorist bandit, in possession of one Bull suspected to be rustled one.

“In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to having conspired with his gang and rustled animals from the neighborhood.

He further stated that it was his own share of the loot. An investigation is ongoing,” he added.
