DAAD in partnership with BIGSAS is pleased to welcome highly motivated and intelligent students from Africa who wish to further their academic pursuit at the University of Bayreuth in Germany to take a chance on their ongoing African Women Scholars scholarship program for the 2023/2024 academic session.

The scholarship program is often termed one of the biggest PhD scholarship program offered in Germany to African students to study in Europe. It will elapse for about a year with a monthly payment of 1,200 euros alongside other mouthwatering benefits to aid each successful applicant to have a memorable study duration in the country.

The BIGSAS Scholarship program has also proven as one of the best fully funded scholarship schemes for outstanding African women scholars based on the African continent to join an international community of early career researchers working in the field of African Studies. The organisation provides a centre for creative and innovative doctoral training based on the inter- and multi-disciplinary research environment of the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence at the University with a PhD scholarship worth a monthly payment of 1,200 euros and other benefits as well.

The University of Bayreuth is a public research university founded in 1975 as a campus university situated in Bayreuth, Germany. It is broadly organized into seven undergraduate and PhD faculties, with each faculty defining its own admission standards and academic programs in near autonomy with funding opportunities like the BIGSAS Scholarships to help fund student’s study expenses and other benefits will include; Monthly payments of 1,200 euros, Health, accident and personal liability insurance cover, Travel Allowance, Annual research allowance of 460 euros, Annual material resource and supervision allowance of 1000 euros.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be an African student.

Applicants must have a very good Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline.

Applicants must have obtained their master’s degree within the last six years.

Applicants should not have been in Germany for more than twelve months.

Applicants can submit their application in German, English or French.

Applicants must have an offer for admission at the university.

Interested applicants who meet the above requirements and eligibility criteria are expected to visit the BIGSAS official website or the DAAD website to submit their application, and also provide all supporting documents on or before the deadline.
