Niger SUBEB Warns Contractors To Operate Within Specifications Or Face Revoke/Blacklist

Niger State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), has warned contractors handling the 180 ongoing projects to execute their jobs within the specifications or face revocation and blacklist.

The Board Chairman, Saidu Ibrahim, handed down the warning during an interview with Channels Television in Minna, saying that he has reviewed supervision and monitoring of projects since his assumption of office in August.

Ibrahim lamented over inherited poor and substandard projects execution affirmed by the recent National Assembly committee members on their oversight function to the state.

He emphasized the need for standardization hence the present administration of governor Abubakar Bello’s commitment in the payment of up to date counterpart funds for over 2,000 projects thus far and assurance of contracts payment accordingly.

The State SUBEB chairman read a riot act against the board staff especially the technical officers who do compromised to desist as it will not be business as usual hence they should prepared to face the wrath of the law if found wanting in anyway.

He reiterated the determination of governor Abubakar Bello, urging Communities to take ownership of the projects in their domain, noting that the contractors our of greed wanted to maximize profits to the detriment of the state government which is unacceptable.

He further revealed that the Niger state has over 3,700 schools hence the National Assembly committee commended the state as well sympathized with it for the wider nature of the state while they called on the state government to partner the National Assembly with the Plantronics in providing the required logistics for schools in Niger state.
