All is set for the National assembly to pass the 2023 budget today (Wednesday) after failing to do so last Thursday.
The passage of the budget on the initial date fell through after the Senate President Ahmad Lawan disclosed that there were problems in the budget which necessitated a clean-up exercise.
He said that process was concluded last Wednesday and because of that the report was not concluded to be presented last Thursday.

The Senate President did not disclose what the problems identified in the budget were as he only said they were problems and they have cleaned them up.
Having sorted out the issues in the budget, Lawan confirmed that both the Senate and the House of Representatives are now set to pass the budget today.
It is rare for the parliament to be sitting at this time of the years as they are usually on holiday but this sitting is t ensure that the budget is passed to maintain the one year budget cycle which the National Assembly had been trying ensure happens for the last three years.
However, it remains to be seen if President Mohammadu Buhari will sign the 2023 budget after the National Assembly passes it today or before the new year.
The National Assembly is also expected to pass the 2023 Financial Bill today. It is also not clear is they will be passing the supplementary budget President Buhari brought before it.
