The management of Katsina Federal Teaching Hospital has solicited more support and intervention from the Federal Ministry of Health, international organizations, and other relevant agencies.

The newly appointed Director of Administration of the hospital, Alhaji Haruna Ahmed Zambuk, made the appeal on Tuesday when he assumed duty after his last month’s appointment by the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire.

According to Zambuk, the hospital undoubtedly requires additional staff, facilities, and resources which he said. This, he explained, is because he is out for quality services and intends to address a number of issues for the betterment of the hospital.

“The number of staff on the ground is insufficient as well as the infrastructure. We need the addition of staff strength and infrastructure to measure up to the status of a teaching hospital.

“That can only be done with the support of the Board which is in place, the Federal Ministry of Health, and other related agencies and international organizations that may help to bring in intervention to the hospital.

“I will put in place something different to become a landmark at the end of my tenure. I am out for quality services to make sure that we get the commitment of everybody.”

He also promised to ensure teamwork among all staff irrespective of level and assured of drafting policies and strategies to get them to the promising land.

“The attendants, cleaners, and consultants are very important. I will make sure that I carry everyone along to move the hospital to the promising land,” he said.

“By so doing, we will be able to put our heads together, both clinical and non-clinical staff to make sure that we attend to our mission and vision.

“We will put certain policies and strategies in place to get to the promising land. We will also follow the teaching hospital strategic plan in terms of equipment, manpower, and infrastructure so that at the end of the year, we will be able to see what we have actually made and we will also be able to measure areas of deficiencies for us to clear them in the following year to move ahead.

“We will ensure teamwork among ourselves to get to the destination. We will put certain policies and strategies in place to get to the promising land.”

In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr Suleiman Bello Mohammed, expressed hope that with the deployment of the new director, the administration department of the hospital will be restructured to deliver on the mandate of service delivery, research development, and training of healthcare workers.

In particular, Dr Sulaiman Bello Mohammed said the hospital has made adequate arrangements to ensure that it addresses emergencies.

“When victims of insurgency or banditry are brought to the hospital whether they have money or not, they will be attended to by the emergency staff,” he assured.

Channels Television recalled that the particular hospital was upgraded last year from the Federal Medical Centre, a situation that warranted the repositioning of the administration department.
