One Dead In Ondo Market Clash

A source in the community said one person died while several others sustained injuries.

The Hausa and Fulani residents in Ayede-Ogbese, a popular market town in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State have engaged one another in a bloody clash.

The clash which was reported to have commenced on Tuesday evening escalated by Wednesday morning. Though the incident has yet to be confirmed, a source in the community said one person died while several others sustained injuries.

Also, several shops were said to have been razed down during the clash.

The cause of the clash is yet to be known, however, an anonymous source within the community informed newsmen that the clash was between the Fulani settlers and the Hausa community.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of Ondo State Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya had contrary information on the incident.

According to her, there was no clash in the market, but a fire outbreak and the cause of the fire is yet to be established.
