Empowerment items worth over N1 billion have been donated to thousands of residents in the Funtua Senatorial District of Katsina South covering eleven (11) local government areas.
The items donated by the outgoing senator representing Funtua Zone, Senator Bello Mandiya, include two 18-seater buses meant for the Government Girls’ Secondary School, Kafur, and the other for Galadima Abdullahi General Hospital, Malumfashi.
Other items donated include 202 refrigerators, 3,500 bags of fertilizers, 138 tricycles for 200 motorcycles, 750 water pumping machines, and 350 grinding machines all meant to empower irrigation farmers, women, and youths, chief imams as well as party officials across the senatorial district.
Speaking during the empowerment ceremony held at Kafur Local Government Area, the hometown of Governor Aminu Masari on Tuesday, Senator Mandiya who was emotional, urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items which are part of democracy dividends.
Earlier in his address, the Deputy APC Chairman in the state, Bala Musawa, highlighted some of the achievements and projects successfully executed by the outgoing Senator which he said had impacted positively on the lives of citizens.
“What Senator Bello has done for the Funtua Zone is too numerous to mention. He has indeed done his best in this zone. We are optimistic about getting the targeted votes in this zone in the 2023 general elections.
“On behalf of the APC leadership, we want to thank you because this empowerment is worth N1 billion. You really deserved so much commendation.
“Masari has indeed fulfilled all his campaign promises; we have never had a governor like him in Katsina State,” he noted.
On his part, Governor Masari commended the lawmaker for the gesture, urging him to continue to have faith in God Almighty.
“I am happy that you concede defeat and did not revenge or pay back the bad with bad,” he added.
“It’s better for one to live for 30 years doing good than to live 100 years doing badly. What you have done has indeed saved our party in this critical moment when we are preparing for the general elections.”
Senator Mandiya lost his return ticket to Hon Muntari Dandume, the member representing Funtua/Dandume Federal Constituency, in the recent APC primaries.
