Katsina Special Works Beneficiaries Endorse Tinubu, Radda

The thirty-four thousand beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s Special Public Works Scheme (SPW) in Katsina State on Sunday backed the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu and the party’s governorship candidate in Katsina Dr Dikko Radda.

They are optimistic the APC flagbearers will replicate similar social intervention programs aimed at assisting the less privileged citizens across the country.

According to the Board of Trustees Chairman of the SPW beneficiaries in the state Ubale Yusuf Nalado, the aim is to reciprocate the Federal Government’s gesture.

“As you can see, it’s a political support association. They benefited from president Muhammadu Buhari’s social intervention program which has yielded results in Katsina State.

“This is an indication that they are trying to reciprocate the gesture given to them by the Federal Government. I am sure that this is the first of its kind in the country.

“This has indicated our commitment and readiness as citizens of Katsina State. And we have a good rapport with the beneficiaries most especially the downtrodden and we are proud of that.

“We are talking about the capacity of the 34 thousand beneficiaries covering 1,000 beneficiaries from each of the 34 LGAs of Katsina State, and that’s officially from the Federal Government but when we look at it from another dimension, every beneficiary has a family.

“We are committed to harnessing the resources which we have invested. This is in favor of President Muhammadu Buhari,” Nalado added.

On his part, the chairman of the state chapter of SPW beneficiaries Salim Usman expressed confidence that Tinubu and Radda have all it takes to deliver a better Nigeria and a better Katsina state by extension.

In the meantime, the women leader of the Katsina SPW Beneficiaries Hajiya Binta Abdullahi has pledged to canvas more support for APC candidates at all levels.

Channels Television recalled that on August 23rd, 2022, the beneficiaries of the SPW called on President Buhari to critically observe and extend the program to another phase in order to combat the prevalent poverty rate across the country.

The programme aimed at mitigating the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on Nigeria’s teeming population is also targeted at employing 1,000 unskilled youths in each of the 774 LGAs for three months.

In Katsina State, the program has directly touched the lives of over 34,000 unemployed youths majority of which are now self-reliant.

He said the beneficiaries were engaged in public service works to receive a monthly stipend of N20,000 each.

The program was managed by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) under the supervision of the Ministry of State for Labour and Employment.
