Masari Pledges Continuous Support To Nigerian Army

Katsina State Government has pledged to continue offering all necessary support and assistance to the Nigerian Army to carry out its assignment.

This is coming as thirty (30) Katsina soldiers have so far paid the supreme price from 2020 to 2022.

Governor Aminu Masari made the promise on Sunday during the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration held at the Katsina Peoples’ Square.

Masari while appreciating the role and untiring sacrifices being made by members of the armed forces in the state and the country in general, also commended other sister security agencies who have contributed immensely to the protection of the lives and property of Katsina citizens.

He, however, urged them to sustain the tempo, appealing to them to give all necessary cooperation to the predecessors.

The governor also attributed the relative peace being enjoined in the state to the dedication, professional competence, and discipline of the troops and other sister security agencies.

The annual wreath-laying ceremony marking the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day took place at the Peoples’ Square of the General Muhammadu Buhari House, Katsina

January 15 every year is celebrated as Armed Forces Remembrance Day to mark the end of the country’s 30-month civil war on January 15th, 1970.

The event is also marked to honour members of the armed forces who paid the supreme price in the defence of the country.

In Katsina state, North West Nigeria, important personalities such as the Commander of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ibikunle Ademola Ajose, Katsina Commissioner of Police, CP Shehu Umar Nadada, other heads of various security agencies in the state among others joined the special guest of honor and Governor Masari to take part in the ceremony.

Special prayers were offered for the repose of the soul of the departed fallen heroes and for peace to reign in the country after the tradition of pigeons’ release as a symbol of peace and unity.

During the ceremony, over 100 patients mostly residents of the Natsinta Barracks and other neighboring communities including retired soldiers, widows, and pensioners received medical attention in the annual medical outreach.
