Turkey Earthquake: Controversy Trails Ghanaian Player, Christian Atsu’s Whereabouts

His agent as well as club manager have debunked claims of his rescue.

Less than a day after the former Chelsea and Newcastle player, Christian Atsu  was reported to have been rescued from structural debris in Turkey, his agent as well as club manager have debunked claims of his rescue.

Atsu, who plays for Hatayspor, was reported to had been trapped after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Syria and Turkey leaving at least 4,800 people.

The club’s vice president Mustafa Öza revealed on Tuesday, that the 31-year-old had been rescued but was nursing injuries in a hospital but gave grim news about Savut.

”Christian Atsu was taken out with injuries. Our sporting director, Taner Savut, is unfortunately still under the rubble,” Ozat said:

However, agent of the footballer, Nana Sechere, disclosed in a statement on Twitter that Atsu’s whereabouts still remain a mystery.

“Following yesterday’s update from the club that Christian had been pulled out alive, we are yet to confirm Christian’s whereabouts.” it read.

“As you can imagine, this continues to be a devastating time for his family and we are doing everything we can to locate Christian.”

“Official updates will be provided as more information comes to light. Please respect the families privacy during this harrowing time, and refrain from spreading unsubstantiated news as this will only hamper the search efforts for Christian”

According to a journalist Suleyman Arat  based in Turkey, he revealed via his official Twitter handle that conversations with manager,Volkan Demirel proved the club has no information about the Ghanaian.
