Akeem Yusuf, the new Commissioner for Police Katsina State
Police authorities in Katsina State on Wednesday restated their commitment to ensuring the peaceful conduct of Saturday’s governorship and state House of Assembly elections in the state.
The newly posted Police Commissioner in the state who was deployed to the state for the election, Hakeem Yusuf, said the command has concluded arrangements to ensure a hitch-free exercise.
He warned politicians to talk to their hardened supporters to allow the elections to be guided by the law.
In particular, CP Yusuf warned social miscreants, terrorists, and other criminal elements to behave themselves as it’s not going to be business as usual.
He further asked them to either leave the state or be arrested and dealt with in accordance with the extant laws of the land.
The commissioner called on the good people of the state to continue to support and cooperate with the command in an effort to ensure successful, free, fair, peaceful, and credible 2023 general elections in the state.
In a related development, the Katsina State Government through the Special Advisor to the Governor on Security Matters, Ibrahim Katsina, has assured residents that the elections will be conducted peacefully.
He charged politicians to play according to the rules of the game and allow peace to reign, recalling that the presidential election conducted in the state was generally peaceful amidst effective synergy between the security forces and the government as well as the political actors.
During the election, he said, the activities of miscreants were checkmated and anything that will cause a threat to peace and security was adequately taken care of.
