NEPC Projects $500m Revenue From Cashew Nut Export In 2023

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has projected revenue generation of up to $500 million in 2023 from cashew nut export.

The NEPC executive secretary, Israel Yakusak, who spoke on Thursday at the inauguration of the organic cashew certification programme for export, said the total value of cashew nuts exported in 2022 hit $252 million.

He added that the rise in earnings follows the launch of the organic cashew certification programme.

Yakusak stated that the project aims to discourage the export of raw cashew and to encourage value addition across the cashew value chain.

He added that if this is properly executed, it will generate more foreign exchange for the country and create jobs and drive industrialisation.
