A coalition of Arewa Elders has accused the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the just concluded election, Peter Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed of over heating the polity and inciting the public with their statements and utterances over the outcome of the polls.

The Arewa elders noted that the recent statement made by the Labour Party Vice Presidential Candidate, Datti- Ahmed demanding that the President Elect, Bola Tinubu should not be sworn in, amounts to exhibiting “Anti Democratic” tendencies that could trigger civil disobedience.

The group made its position known in a communique read by chairman of the coalition, Suleiman Jere at the end of their meeting in Kaduna state, where they also called on security agencies to arrest those rooting for an interim government as against the Swearing-in of the President Elect, Bola Tinubu on May 29th.

While noting that the presidential election has been held and the winner emerged through popular votes, the Arewa Elders insisted that the people’s wish must prevail and Tinubu must be sworn in as the next President of Nigeria on May 29th, stating that Interim government has no place in the country’s constitution.
