A Professor of Political Science, Jideofor Adibe, has said the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari mismanaged herders crises within the last eight years.

Ofor-Adibe, who spoke on Channels Television’s News At 10 on Monday, also said Buhari was emotionally distant from Nigerians in the last eight years.

However, the don at the Nasarawa State University said the President achieved successes in infrastructural development like the construction of the Second Niger Bridge.

Ofor-Adibe further stated that Buhari used his influence and pressed diplomatic buttons to get seats for Nigerians in international organisations like the African Development Bank and the World Trade Organisation.

“There were people he regarded as a dot in a circle; yes, he built the Second Niger Bridge, for which people will never forget him in the South-East,” he stated.

“But for now, people tend to relate more to people not just by what they get from you but by how they feel you treat them. It is in that realm of feeling towards him because he was emotionally distant from many Nigerians, this inability to show empathy.

“For example, if there is a natural disaster, you will expect to see a president on the spot giving emotional support and condolences.

“Because he was not that type of person, he was emotionally distant, whereas, on a whim, he would fly out. People tend not to relate to him the way they relate to others.”
