Ex-Anambra Lawmaker Annie Okonkwo Is Dead

 

A former Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Annie Okonkwo, is dead.

He was said to have died in the United States after a prolonged illness.

He was 63.

Okonkwo, a prominent businessman and politician, hailed from Ojoto community in the Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

He represented Anambra Central Senatorial District from 2007 to 2011 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

At several times, he contested the governorship seat of Anambra State during his active political days.

Okonkwo at certain point defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

His son, Uche Okonkwo won the Idemili South/North Federal Constituency seat in the February 25 National Assembly electionS under Labour Party (LP).
