Senate President Godswill Akpabio has met with the leaders of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) over their ongoing industrial action.
A statement from his office on Tuesday stated that the doctors are set to suspend the strike following the meeting with the senate leadership.
Asides from Akpabio, others in attendance include Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele; Senator Ireti Kingibe, and NARD President Emeka Orji, who led leaders of the association to the meeting.
It added that the doctors have agreed to suspend their planned national protest.
The statement further adds that the Senate President assured the doctors that as soon as a minister of health is appointed, the lawmakers will work towards addressing their grievances.
