A former Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, Olatunji Disu, has taken over as the new Commissioner of Police (CP) in Rivers State.

The new CP was introduced on Wednesday to the officers and men of the Command at the state headquarters on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt where he inspected the quarter guard before being introduced to his men by the deputy commissioner in charge of operations.

The new police chief then made an impromptu visit to Ahoada East Local Government Area where five people were killed last week.

The CP then charged his men to be strong and assures that no one will kill any police officer and go scot free.

Disu took over from Emeka Nwonyi who was transferred out in circumstances which may be connected with the disturbance during which Governor Sim Fubara was teargassed.
