Bayelsa Queens, Benue Queens Stumble In Handball League

Bayelsa Queens and Benue Queens confirmed their relegation from the Ardova Handball Premier League after they suffered defeats in the second phase of the elite competition in Lagos.

Benue Queens crumbled to the firepower of Seasider Babes, losing 25-19 to drop to the second division.

The results leave Bayelsa Queens in ninth position with 22 points; five points adrift of Bendel Dynamos who have 27 points while Benue Queens languished at the bottom of the women’s table with 21 points.

In other games, Safety Babes are set to retain their title following a 35-32 victory over Delta Queens.

The victory cemented Safety Babes’ lead on the table with 50 points, which is 7 points ahead of Defender Babes who are second with 43 points after a shocking 27-25 defeat to Imo Grasshoppers.

In the men’s category, Bendel Dynamos sustained their push to escape relegation with a comfortable 32-24 win over Confluence Stars just as Correction Boys edged past Lagos Seasiders 21-20.

An in-form Sokoto Rima Strikers secured a commanding 41-27 victory over Police Machine.

League leaders Niger United defeated Benue Buffaloes 44-21 which earned them 55 points, 3 points more than Tojemarine Academy who defeated title holders Kano Pillars 31-26.

Safety Shooters remained in third position after beating De Defenders 33-11.
