At least 11 people have died and 88 others were injured after an explosion and fire at the main fuel depot in Guinea on Monday, a civil protection chief said.

Emergency services have counted 11 deaths and 88 seriously injured at the incident in the capital Conakry, operational technical director Jean Traore told a meeting with the foreign minister and ambassadors. Earlier, a hospital official said at least eight people had died.
