After winning the Grammy for the best pop vocal album at the 66th Grammy awards, popstar singer Taylor Swift decided to surprise the world by announcing the release of her new album dubbed “The Tortured Poets Department”.
“This is my 13th Grammy,” Swift said when accepting the award, acknowledging her proclaimed lucky number. I want to say thank you to the members of the Recording Academy for voting this way, but I know that the way that the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans.
“So I want to say ‘thank you’ to the fans by telling you a secret that I’ve been keeping from you for the last two years — which is that my brand new album comes out April 19. I’m going to go and post the cover right now backstage,” she announced.

After making the announcement, Swift took to her Instagram page where she shared a black-and-white image of her reclining across pillows. The top half of her face and lower half of her legs are cut off in the low-contrast image. “All’s fair in love and poetry…” her caption reads.
She also shared a photo of her teasing further about the album:
“And so I enter into evidence/My tarnished coat of arms/My muses, acquired like bruises / My talismans and charms / The tick, tick, tick of love bombs / My veins of pitch black ink / All’s fair in love and poetry.”
She then ended her message with, “Sincerely, The Chairman of the Tortured Poets Department.”
Swift is the first singer to win album of the year for the fourth time. She won for her 2022 album “Midnights”.
