The Katsina State Government has approved the sum of N16.7 billion for the procurement of fertilizer to farmers across the state for the farming season.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture Ahmed Bakori disclosed this after the state Executive Council (FEC) meeting held on Wednesday at the Katsina Government House.

Professor Bakori highlighted that 20,000 metric tonnes of the fertilizer components consist of 60, 000 tonnes of urea, 8,000 tonnes of NPK 15-15, and NPK 10-10.

He maintained that agriculture and food security are part of the critical agenda of Governor Dikko Radda-led administration.

On his part, the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport Sani Ingawa disclosed that the state Exco has approved an N1bn road construction project beginning from Galadinci down to the residence of late General Hassan Katsina.

A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed on Thursday noted that the state Executive Council also approved over N6bn for the settlement of contractors engaged by the previous administration to complete the ongoing projects awarded by the past administration.
