Defence Minister Says Strategic Leadership Critical To Military Operations

While addressing participants of the 2024 senior course 46 counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency in Nigeria (CTCOIN) at the Armed Forces Command And Staff College, Jaji in Kaduna State on Wednesday, the minister stressed the impact of strategic leadership on officers.

Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru has described strategic leadership as critical to military operations in decision-making across all levels, noting that such is important in navigating complex scenarios and ensuring cohesion in the execution of military strategies.

While addressing participants of the 2024 senior course 46 counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency in Nigeria (CTCOIN) at the Armed Forces Command And Staff College, Jaji in Kaduna State on Wednesday, the minister stressed the impact of strategic leadership on officers.

Badaru also highlights the importance of strengthening partnerships with local communities, international allies and other security agencies to enhance collective security efforts, just as he reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment towards tackling insecurity through a comprehensive security strategy and community engagement.

Speaking earlier, he acknowledged the challenges being faced by the Armed Forces in the ongoing fight against terrorism and banditry across the country, itemising the need for a holistic government approach in handling counter-insurgency and anti-banditry operations.

Ribadu also emphasised the importance of intelligence-driven operations and the protection of the civilian population.

He charged the participants to imbibe excellence and professionalism in discharging their constitutional responsibilities.

The Minister also inspected the facilities for the training and equipping of the first batch of 800 personnel of the special operation force, as well as troops undergoing training at the General Martin Luther Agwai Peacekeeping Centre while at the College
