The Labour Party (LP) says it remains the only option for credible leadership which has been the bane of the country’s development.

The chairman of the party, Julius Abure, gave this position at a press briefing in Lagos over the weekend where he expressed delight over the many victories won by the LP despite what he called various campaigns of calumny against its leadership.

“And I think I’ve spoken to that when I was making my remark. The country has not improved in terms of economy in terms of infrastructure, in terms of health, in terms of education,” he said.

“All aspects of our lives are still in a very, very chaotic position and therefore nothing has changed. Nothing has improved the life of the people and as it stands today, the Labour Party remains the credible alternative.”

Abure also backed the moves for the implementation of the Stephen Oronsaye Report on the restructuring of the civil service.

“We have over-bloated civil service. We have over-bloated agencies where we waste our money, waste our time, and waste all kinds of resources on those agencies.

“So, the Labour Party is supportive of the Oronsaye Report and we are looking forward to its full implementation.

“I think it’s a right step in the right direction more so that the lives of Nigerians have not improved.”
