Bandits Kill 10, Abduct 12 In Zamfara Attack

However, security agencies in the state are yet to confirm the development. The spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police Command Yazid Abubakar told Channels Television that he is yet to get information about the attack.

Bandits have attacked Gidan Zuma village under Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing 10 persons and abducting 12 residents. 

A resident of the community who pleaded anonymity for security reasons told Channels Television that the bandits stormed the village on Sunday night and started shooting indiscriminately.

According to him, 10 persons were killed during the attack and about 12 residents were whisked away by the terrorists.

“The bandits entered in the night and started shooting at people, residents scampered for safety because the attack was sudden,” the source said.

“Our people have always been defending this village from bandits’ invasion. But we were caught off guard yesterday;10 of our people were killed.”

However, security agencies in the state are yet to confirm the development. The spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police Command Yazid Abubakar told Channels Television that he is yet to get information about the attack. But he promised to contact the Bungudu Divisional Police Officer about the incident.

In a similar attack, bandits operating around Munhaye Forest on Sunday night, in an attempt to invade Tsafe town, the headquarters of Tsafe Local Government of Zamfara State, have killed a personnel of the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards (CPG) also known as Askarawa.

The incident happened when the personnel of the security outfit alongside the military engaged bandits in a gun duel in Tsafe town.

Two operational vehicles of the military and one belonging to the Community Protection Guards were set ablaze by the terrorists.
