The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has embarked on a medical outreach at Elekahia Community in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and also assured of improved oil output in the area.
The exercise which is put together by the Air Force Reference Hospital under the leadership of Group Captain Chidi Ezeani took place at the Elekahia Community Townhall and involved the Air Force’s medical team tending to members of the community in need of medical attention.
Speaking during the exercise, the Commander of the Reference Hospital, Group Cpt Ezeani said “as part of activities to mark the Nigerian Air Force’s 60th anniversary, the Chief of Air Staff directed the Nigerian Air Force Reference Hospital, Port Harcourt, to conduct a medical outreach in our host communities.
He added, “This is being done as part of Nigerian Air Force’s Corporate Social Responsibility in support of a robust civil-military cooperation. Through the outreach, the Chief of Air Staff wishes to appreciate our host community here in Rivers state for their cooperation with the Nigerian Air Force over the years.”
The medical team examined, advised, prescribed, and dispensed medication to those in need. Some of the beneficiaries were deeply grateful for the medical assistance.
Meanwhile, the Commander of the Air Force’s 115 Special Operations Group, Air Commodore Ali Idris, on the sidelines of the exercise assured of the Air Force’s commitment to battling economic saboteurs in the protection of the nation’s economic progress.
He said “We’re equipped with attack helicopters and have played our part under the Operation Delta Safe to improve the oil output of Nigeria and deter criminals that are engaged in oil theft and some that are economic saboteurs.
“We’ll keep fighting them because our aim is to increase the oil output and bring safety and security to the Niger Delta while ensuring economic activities thrive.”
The Air Force however has assured that this won’t be a one-off, but will continue annually.
