No Protest Will Happen In Bauchi, Says SSG

The Bauchi State Government on Wednesday said that there would be no protest taking place in the North-Eastern state, warning anybody planning to organise such should think twice.

Speaking against the backdrop of the planned nationwide protest, the Secretary to the State Government of Bauchi State, Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, in a press briefing at the Government House dismissed any speculation of protests occurring within the state’s borders.

“On the part of the government, we completely dissociate ourselves from any protest. We are not aware, we are not welcoming any protest, and it’s not going to happen in Bauchi State,” Kashim said.

He highlighted the state’s reputation for peace and tranquillity, emphasizing that the government is resolute in maintaining the atmosphere.

The SSG cautioned the organisers stating, “ If they insist on protesting, they should do so elsewhere, not in Bauchi State.”

Regarding recent claims about the closure of primary healthcare centres in the state by some media, Kashim refuted the allegations saying the alleged plan is without government consent, approval, or knowledge.

“We will investigate the matter thoroughly, and appropriate actions will be taken against those responsible,” he stated.

He also assured the public the primary healthcare centres across the state, along with all public institutions, will remain open as scheduled and that the public should disregard any misinformation regarding their closure

According to Kashim, the security architecture and all agencies are on high alert and will not permit any protest within Bauchi State, urging residents to continue their daily activities without fear of disruption.
