Suspected Boko Haram terrorists on Sunday attacked Jakana police station in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno state, killing a police driver and a woman.

The terrorists also set ablaze two patrol vehicles and a motorcycle belonging to the police and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force. They also carted away some arms and ammunition.

Located 35 km along Maiduguri -Damaturu Road, Jakana has been a pathway for the insurgents for years and has remained so.

Sources in Jakana said the terrorists stormed the police station at about 1 am, where they engaged the security troops for hours before fleeing at about 3 am.

The Executive Chairman of Konduga Council Area Abbas Abari in a telephone conversation confirmed the incident. He, however, insisted that he did not have details of casualties at press time.

He said, “Yes I received a distress call that Boko Haram Terrorists attacked Jakana Police station last night. I am speaking with the Divisional Police Officer, and whenever I get the details I will furnish you”.

Calls to Borno State Police Command Public Relations officer Kenneth Daso have not been responded to at the time of filing this report.
