#EndBadGovernance Protests: Curfew Lifted In Keffi LGA In Nasarawa

The dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed in the Keffi Local Government Area following the violent aftermath of the protest has been lifted.

The dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed in the Keffi Local Government Area following the violent aftermath of the protest has been lifted.

The local government council in a statement signed by the Chairman, Muhammad Baba Shehu, revealed that the curfew was lifted after consultation with security agencies who assured of no cause for alarm.

“The Keffi Local Government Council, after due consultation with the security agencies in Keffi, and on the strength of the security agencies’ advise who carefully analysed data on the current national hunger protest, suggested that for now there is no cause for alarm,” the statement read.

“Accordingly, I have the honour to officially suspend the curfew earlier on put in place from 6 pm to 6 am, with immediate effect.”

The council assured residents that security personnel will be vigilant and monitor the areas for any suspicious movement or incident.

SUSPENSION OF CURFEW IN KEFFI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA ARISING FROM NATIONAL AUGUST 1ST PROTEST

The Keffi Local Government Council, after due consultation with the security agencies in Keffi, and on the strength of the security agencies advise who carefully analysed data on the current national hunger protest, suggested that for now there is no cause for alarm.

 

Accordingly, I have the honour to officially suspend the curfew earlier on put in place from 6pm to 6am, with immediate effect.

 

Meanwhile, security agencies will be on the alert for any suspicious movement as the situation unfolds.

 

Let me convey the council’s profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. A.A. Sule for his sustained moral support.

My appreciation to the federal and state security agencies for managing the protest in-line with relevant extant laws.

My appreciation goes to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Keffi for his fatherly role played during the protest.

I also appreciate the good people of Keffi for exhibiting a high sense of maturity during the protest, despite little challenges perpetuated by some miscreants.

Finally, I want to use this medium to convey the council’s regret for any inconvenience the curfew might have cause the innocent citizens.
