The police in Katsina have arrested 64 suspected looters and vandalisers in the state following the #EndBadGovernance nationwide protests that started on Thursday.

The Command also said it has reinforced the already existing security structure to maintain law and order in the state.

ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the Command’s spokesman disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Channels Television on Saturday.

He said the State Police Command is already on top of the situation, adding that, the state is relatively calm and peaceful as people are going about their lawful businesses.

Sadiq further urged Katsina residents to continue to cooperate with the security agencies, asking parents and guardians to warn their children to desist from any act that will be in conflict with the law.

The police spokesman while reacting to a viral video circulating on social media platforms, particularly on X (formerly known as Twitter), of a security agent lying motionless on the ground, alleged to have been shot dead by a police officer while trying to disperse protesters in the state, described it as misleading.

According to him, the video is manipulated and taken out of context, stating that, there was no such shooting incident throughout the command during the protest.

“The fact is that the security agent shown in the video is an officer of the NSCDC who fell from a patrol vehicle due to an accident involving the vehicle at the scene of the protest. He was immediately rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital (formerly Federal Medical Centre, Katsina, where he was treated and discharged.

“We call on members of the public to disregard this misinformation and always verify information through official channels.

“Furthermore, we assure them of the strength of our synergy with sister security agencies in the state as we work together to maintain public safety and order and the highest level of professionalism in the discharge of our duties, and we will continue to work tirelessly to maintain peace and stability in Katsina State,” he stated.
