Buhari Govt Spent Eight Years Mopping Up PDP’s Mess, Says APC’s Morka

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Felix Morka has exonerated the government of Muhammadu Buhari, saying the administration spent its tenure cleaning mistakes from the past leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Nigeria’s inflation figures have soared to over 30 percent, sending the costs of essential commodities beyond the reach of millions in Africa’s most populous nation.

While the pronouncement of an end to the fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu’s government upon assumption of office has triggered the most recent hike in the cost of living, Morka argued that the previous APC-led government of Buhari was focused on undoing the wrongs of the PDP leadership which lasted 16 years.

“The Buhari administration did nothing in eight years but to clean and mop up the mess made by the PDP,” Morka said on Monday’s edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today.

“What Nigerians don’t realise is that the PDP government created and operated a phantom economy where billions and billions of dollars and naira were awarded and thrown around for national projects that were never done as such. All of that money was simply rolled out into private pockets.”

‘Intervenor Government’

Buhari ruled between 2015 and 2019 after taking from the PDP which ruled the country since the advent of the recent republic in 1999. He later handed over to Tinubu his party man in May 2023.

But Morka the current hardship facing Nigeria was orchestrated by the PDP leadership of 16 years which the APC-led administration is correcting.

The APC spokesman claimed that the hardship “was constructed generationally and that generation, the owners and the perpetrators of the heinous, abominable crimes against this country were manufactured, constructed, and delivered by the PDP in 16 years.

“So, Buhari was simply an intervenor government that simply came to hold place and hold Nigeria away from the precipice.”

Morka called for patience with the Tinubu government which he says will deliver on its promises.
