Lagos State Government says 3,000 cows will be slaughtered daily at the Imota Logistics Hub to cater to the residents’ needs.

The state Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, disclosed this on Channels Television’s special programme, Nigeria’s Challenging Economy: Strategies For Recovery to commemorate Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary.

“We are building a logistic hub in Imota, the biggest in this part of the world. What that does for us is that it allows us to track what comes to Lagos,” he said.

“So Lagos interestingly will slaughter cows like 3,000 every day. So, where are they coming from? How can we track it? Today, if anything happens, our veterinary doctors slaughter them and burn them up. But we need to do better.”

The hub is part of the Lagos State Government’s efforts to improve agricultural logistics. It is also to ensure a constant supply of meat and other food products to the state.
