Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has honoured the sacrifices of the nation’s founding fathers, acknowledging their dedication to the country’s unity and progress.
Governor Fubara in his speech at the 64th Independent Anniversary Celebration in Government House Port Harcourt, said despite the ongoing socio-economic challenges, the citizens still have reasons to celebrate.
The governor, however, called on all Nigerians to support the Federal Government’s initiatives to strengthen democracy by tackling what he described as “judicial terrorism”.

He praised President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, and encouraged fellow governors to intensify efforts to combat banditry in the North and pipeline vandalism in the South, identifying such effects as crucial steps toward revitalizing the nation’s economy.
Governor Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to delivering good governance in Rivers State, highlighting achievements in human capital development and infrastructure projects across all sectors.
He commended the state’s security agencies for their role in maintaining internal peace and expressed gratitude to the people of Rivers State for their continued support for his administration.
He assured that his administration would not bow to lies and blackmail.
The ceremony concluded with Governor Fubara performing the symbolic release of the peace pigeons, signifying the state’s hope for lasting peace and progress.
