Digital Economy: Galaxy Backbone, FG Hold High-Level Engagement On Government Service Portal

Galaxy Backbone Limited, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, has hosted a high-level engagement workshop on the Government Service Portal (GSP), as part of the drive to enhance digital governance and improve public service delivery in Nigeria.

The workshop, held in Abuja, brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), to discuss the development and implementation of the GSP.

Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engineer Faruk Yusuf Yabo, highlighted the significance of the GSP, which is poised to revolutionize the way Nigerian citizens access government services.

“The GSP is a clear testament to our commitment to digitizing public service delivery,” the Permanent Secretary stated, emphasizing the role of technology in fostering transparency, efficiency, and accessibility across government functions.

He commended the collaborative efforts between the government and KOICA in developing the GSP, stressing its alignment with Nigeria’s broader Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) agenda.

“This portal is not just a technological advancement; it is a crucial step towards ensuring that government services are delivered in a manner that is efficient, secure, and transparent. We are proud to be leading this digital transformation journey,” he said.

The Managing Director and CEO of Galaxy Backbone, Professor Ibrahim Adeyanju underscored the pivotal role that MDAs play in the success of the portal, urging all agencies to integrate their services into the GSP to ensure a seamless and efficient platform for citizens.

“This is not just about technology; it is about creating a system that empowers our citizens by making government services accessible at their fingertips,” he asserted.

A core component of the GSP is the Government Data Exchange (GDX) platform, which will allow real-time information sharing between agencies, improving collaboration and service delivery across the public sector. Representatives from KOICA also highlighted the strategic partnership with Nigeria in developing the portal, noting that the GSP will significantly enhance Nigeria’s digital governance landscape.

The workshop served as a platform for open dialogue, where stakeholders discussed their roles and responsibilities in ensuring the successful implementation of the GSP.
