A brace from Shakirat Moshood – one in the 28th minute and the second in the 96th minute- saw Nigeria claim all three points in the match.

Harmony Chidi netted in the 54th minute while Peace Effiong scored in the 66 minute for the West Africans.

With six points from two matches, the Flamingos are in the quarter-finals of the competition. They have so far scored eight goals while conceding just once.

Nigeria’s next match is against hosts the Dominican Republic on Tuesday, October 22nd.

In 2022, the Flamingos finished third in India, becoming only the second African country to do so in the competition after Ghana at the 2012 edition of the tournament.
