The Katsina State Government on Monday conducted competency tests for secondary school principals and vice principals.
The tests were held across the state including the Federal College of Education, Katsina, and JAMB Centre.
The State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Zainab Musawa, while speaking in a media chat, noted that the tests were meant to sanitize the entire ecosystem of education in the State.
Musawa revealed that the tests which will be conducted every three years were not meant to either hurt or put selfish interests but rather, bring sanity to the system of education in line with the education restoration agenda of the executive governor of the State.
The Commissioner explained that a total of 1,340 secondary school principals and vice principals are taking the tests which are in two different categories.

She said the first category of the tests, consists of CBT and the second category consists of essay writing, jointly prepared by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the management of the Federal College of Education, Katsina.
The Commissioner wished the candidates and supervisors the best of luck.
In the meantime, the Katsina State House of Assembly Committee assigned to supervise the conduct of the competency tests, expressed delight in the manner in which the exercise was conducted, calling on candidates to await the result and accept it in good faith.
The Special Advisor to the Katsina State Governor on Education, Dr. Katsayal, the State SUBEB Chairman, Dr Kabir Magaji Gafiya, the Chairman of Teachers Service Board, Sada Abdullahi, and the Permanent Secretary, Katsina State Ministry of Science and Technology, Kabir Matazu among other top ranking Government officials, monitored the exercise.
