The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Kano State branch, has called on the Kano State government for the immediate sack of the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Amina Abdullahi, for demonstrating lack of respect and compassion for frontline healthcare workers and disregarding ethical practices of the profession.
The NMA made the call in a statement it released on Monday and made available to Channels Television.
This is coming on the heels of an incident at the paediatric unit of Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital involving a female doctor who was alone attending to paediatric units with about a hundred patients.

She was said to have been harassed and physically assaulted by a group allegedly orchestrated by the commissioner on the 1st of November 2024.
The association gave an ultimatum of 48 hours on Monday for an immediate response from Governor Abba Yusuf or it will halt all medical services indefinitely across kano state.
They noted that this measure is to help address an already ailing healthcare system, while strengthening reforms to create quality health care delivery in the state.
