Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa
The founder of the Funmi Abikanlu Foundation (FAF), Funmi Abikanlu has lent his support to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State.
Abikanlu who stated this on Wednesday when he paid a courtesy visit to the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, expressed optimism that, if elected, Aiyedatiwa and his running mate, Olayide Adelami will ‘make the Sun shine again’, as it was during the administrations of (past governors such as) Michael Adekunle Ajasin, Olusegun Agagu, and Dr Olusegun Mimiko.
Particularly, the philanthropist emphasised that within the last 10 months of Aiyedatiwa’s administration, he has deliberately focused on infrastructural development, public utilities renewal, agricultural production increment, entrepreneurship and youth development, job creation and security.
He said the significant strides of the governor, especially, the construction of not less than 70km of rural roads in order to provide access to our farm settlements and villages is a testament that he will perform better if given another opportunity.
He also used the medium to canvass the Ondo electorate and different groups to mobilise for Governor Ayedatiwa ahead of November 16 governorship election that we take place in the state.
“Voting Ayedatiwa is a vote for the development of the state and also in support of the renewed hope agenda of Mr President,” he said.
Besides, Funmi Abikanlu had discussions on the plan of the foundation to launch a series of initiatives to empower young individuals in Owo local government and its environs.
“The project which will include training 1000 youths in relevant IT skills (like Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Project Management, Software Development etc), payment of grants to 2000 secondary school students to support their WAEC/NECO fees and finally launch an essay competition for all categories of student in Owo and environs.
“The project will also contain free medical checkups and payment of hospital bills of indigenous members of the community,” he stressed.
The founder further urged residents of the state to exercise their franchise and vote in the coming election as he pledges his support for Ayedatiwa and Adelami, stressing that no initiative will thrive without the necessary enabling environment by government.
In his remark, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, appreciated Abikanlu for the project initiative brought to the community and pledged his support towards the successful completion.
