Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has approved the full renovation and upgrade of 34 additional Primary Healthcare Facilities across the State.
This is in addition to the 102 PHCs recently upgraded and renovated in the state.
The target is to ensure that each and every political ward in the State, 361 in number, has one fully functional PHC, equipped with basic infrastructure, equipment supply and human resources before the end of his first tenure in office.
Governor Radda was speaking on Thursday when he inspected the ongoing PHCs upgrading and renovation projects across seven LGAs in Daura Zone.

The Governor, during the inspection visit, interacted with patients, caregivers and health personnel and he took decisions that will according to him, have positive impacts on the state’s healthcare delivery.
In an interview with the Executive Secretary of the Katsina State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Shamsuddin Yahaya, described healthcare delivery in Nigeria as bedrock hence, must be gotten right.
He recalled that the Governor had in the last two weeks toured 11 hospitals in the Funtua Zone respectively.
He explained that the ongoing upgrading and renovation contract encompasses renovation and upgrade of the affected PHCs, staff quarters, facilities, dispensary and medical wards.
“This tour shows the political will of the Governor despite his busy and tight schedule.
“The Governor has asked us to conduct a needed assessment in terms of the human resources needed in these facilities.
“Currently, there is advertisement and the process of recruitment at the hospital management board where various cadres of healthcare officers are going to be employed so also at the primary healthcare level”, Dr Yahaya noted
