Ebiseni also ruled out the chances of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election.

A Labour Party chieftain, Olusola Ebiseni, speaks on Channels Television’s Politics Today on November 14, 2024.

A Labour Party chieftain, Olusola Ebiseni, on Thursday said the November 16 governorship election is a contest between his party and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He stated this during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, just two days to the commencement of the off-cycle election in the Sunshine State.

Ebiseni also ruled out the chances of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election, stressing how the PDP candidate, Agboola Ajayi, was once a deputy governor of Ondo State.

“This election is going to be about two political parties and their administration,” he said.

“There is no PDP in this election. This election is between the Labour Party and the APC. Agboola Ajayi of the PDP was Akeredolu’s first-time deputy governor. Aiyedatiwas of the APC was Akeredolu’s second-term deputy governor now the incumbent governor.

“If you want to assess their credibility and performance, you will assess them, you will assess the Akeredolu government and the roles they played.”

When asked if he has the backing of former Ondo governor, Olusegun Mimiko to run for governorship election, Ebiseni did not categorically answer the question.

Rather, he has maintained a good relationship with Mimiko over two decades, describing the former governor as his friend.

“It is not an issue for me to debate, Olusegun Mimiko is not against me. I don’t have Mimiko working against me,” he stated.

Speaking on his chances in the race, Ebiseni said his experience as former local government chairman and commissioner under the Mimiko administration has equipped him for the job.
