The Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, has lost his mother, Maryam Namadi-Umar.
She died in the early hours of Wednesday.
It was gathered that she had earlier been buried in her hometown of Kafin Hausa, in accordance with Islamic traditions.
The Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday.
In a statement he personally signed, Abdulrazaq condoled with his Jigawa State colleague.

He said the NGF received the news of Hajiya Maryam’s death with heavy hearts and commiserated with the good people of Jigawa State.
“We urge His Excellency and the people of the state to be consoled by the fine legacies of Hajiya Maryam, who was a great servant of God and lover of humanity,” the statement read.
“We ask Allaah to ease the account of Mama, widen and illuminate her grave, admit her to Al-jannah Firdaus, and uphold the family upon goodness.
“Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) received with heavy hearts the passing of the mother of Jigawa State Governor H.E. Umar Namadi, Hajiya Maryam Namadi-Umar, in the early hours of today.
“The Forum sends its heartfelt condolences to His Excellency, his family, and the good people of Jigawa State on this sad development.”

Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) received with heavy hearts the passing of the mother of Jigawa State Governor H.E. Umar Namadi, Hajiya Maryam Namadi-Umar, in the early hours of today.
