KRC Genk boss Peter Croonen has clearly maintained that Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare will not be leaving the club during the January transfer window amid reports linking him to several English Premier League clubs.

Arokodare is having a good season for the Limburgers after a poor start to a career with the Belgian club.

So far this season, the 24-year-old leads the chart for both goals and assists for the club.

Arokodare has scored 14 goals and provided six assists in 22 matches across all competitions, making him Belgium’s leading goalscorer across Europe’s major leagues so far this campaign.

The striker’s performance has not gone unnoticed and has been linked with a move to Fulham and Turkish giants Trabzonspor.

KRC Genk remain a club that are very dependent on transfer income. In the past, the Limburgers were also regularly forced to sell players in the winter with Paul Onuachu, Daniel Munoz, Joseph Paintsil among players recently sold by the club during the January transfer windows.

However, Croonen insisted that the former FC Cologne and Amiens forward would not be sold despite interest from clubs.

“The intention is absolutely to keep him. And that will happen,” Croonen told DAZN.

Arokodare ends 2024 with a brace against Royal Antwerp in a 2-2 draw at the Bosuilstadion on Boxing Day to close the year as the league’s top scorer.
