The Katsina State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, in collaboration with Dikko Sports Movement, has launched the historic U20 National Football Camping programme at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina State.

In a groundbreaking initiative, the U20 national male football team has commenced camp in Katsina, fully sponsored by the state government.

This transformative exercise, running from March 9 to April 9, 2025, aims to enhance both the moral and technical abilities of the young players, ensuring they are well-prepared for future competitions.

This initiative is the first of its kind in Northern Nigeria, marking a significant milestone in the region’s commitment to youth development and sports excellence.

It also reflects the Katsina State government’s dedication to empowering young athletes and fostering a culture of excellence in football.

As part of the camping program, the Director General of Dikko Sports Movement, Abubakar Sani, announced a series of friendly matches against international and local teams, including Tunisia, Ghana, Niger, Junior Katsina United, Junior Damburam Daura, Katsina Academy, Katsina Selected and Katsina Home Base.

He said these matches would provide the young players with valuable competitive exposure and the experience needed to excel on bigger stages.

This initiative is expected to set a new standard for youth football development in Nigeria and beyond, creating opportunities for talented young players to showcase their skills and gain recognition.
