PHOTOS: Mokwa Residents Observe Eid After Devastating Flood

Hundreds of Muslim worshippers on Friday converged on the Dzuko Eid prayer ground to observe the two Rakkat prayers.

Despite the unfortunate flood disaster that ravaged communities in Mokwa town, Niger State, Muslims in the area are out to observe the Eid prayer in commemoration of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

Hundreds of Muslim worshippers converged on the Dzuko Eid prayer ground on Friday to observe the two Rakat prayers.

 

 

The secretary of the Mokwa Central Mosque, Baba Tswale Mokwa, addressed the worshippers before the commencement of the prayers, reiterating the directive of the Niger state government to suspend all Sallah festivities, including the Durbar.

 

 

He also disclosed that a special prayer would be held to pray for those who lost their lives in the flood incident.

 

 

The Dzuko Eid ground in Mokwa town was packed with hundreds of Muslims who turned out to observe the two-rakat prayers to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festivities.

 

 

The Chief Imam of Mokwa Local Government, Mohammed Ibn Mohammed, led the worshippers to observe the prayers.

 

 

Among the worshippers are the paramount traditional ruler of Mokwa, known as the Ndalele of Mokwa, Mohammed Aliyu Shaba, and other respected Islamic clerics in the area.
