German inflation unexpectedly slowed in June, official data showed Monday, as the European Central Bank (ECB) weighs up whether to pause its lengthy interest rate-cutting cycle.
Annual inflation in the eurozone’s largest economy was 2.0 per cent, according to preliminary data from the federal statistics agency Destatis, down from 2.1 per cent in May. Analysts surveyed by financial data firm FactSet had expected an uptick to 2.2 per cent.
