Rights activist Akpobari Celestine says the job of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas is over with the truce reached by hitherto warring political actors in Rivers State — Governor Siminalayi Fubara; his predecessor Nyesom Wike; and the state assembly members.
Celestine, a Member of the Governing Council of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP), was a guest on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief programme on Monday.
The activist warned that Ibas, the sole administrator in Rivers, should not touch one kobo of the ₦1,485,662,592,442 2025 Rivers State Appropriation Bill approved by the Senator Opeyemi Bamidele Committee on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
Celestine also appealed to President Bola Tinubu to immediately lift the emergency rule imposed on the oil-rich state and restore Governor Fubara.
