In a bid to strengthen strategic communication and enhance the state’s digital media engagement, the Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has appointed Imani Odey as his Special Adviser on Electronic Media, alongside others.
The appointment, announced through a statement signed by Linus Obogo, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, is part of Governor Otu’s commitment to reposition government information management and ensure the effective use of various platforms to reach citizens within and outside the state.
Imani Odey, an accomplished media practitioner and communications strategist, is widely recognised for her outstanding contributions to journalism, youth development, and advocacy for credible information dissemination.

Other appointees include aides covering new media, communications, photography, cinematography, and content creation. The appointments take immediate effect.
Speaking shortly after her appointment, Odey expressed gratitude to Governor Otu for the trust reposed in her, pledging to deploy her expertise to project the activities and achievements of the present administration transparently and professionally.
“I am deeply honoured by this appointment and I pledge to serve with dedication, integrity, and innovation. I will work closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that Cross River State’s image is positively projected through modern electronic media channels,” she said.
Governor Otu charged the new appointees to leverage technology and modern broadcasting tools to bridge the communication gap between government and the people, assuring the public that his administration remains committed to open governance and constructive engagement.
