The organisers of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards have unveiled the full list of nominees for the 2025 edition, featuring 25 competitive categories.
The unveiling ceremony, held on Monday in Victoria Island, Lagos, brought together top filmmakers, actors, and industry stakeholders to celebrate creativity, innovation, and excellence in Nigerian cinema.
According to the organisers, the nominations also had a new addition, Best Series, to honour Nigeria’s growing interest in storytelling.
This year’s nominations recognise productions that have defined the country’s movie landscape over the past year.
Leading the pack are Seven Doors and Abanisete, which secured nine and eight nominations respectively. Both films earned nods in key categories such as Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Movie of the Year, and Best Production Design.
They are closely followed by Farmer’s Bride and My Mother Is a Witch, which also received multiple nominations across both creative and technical categories.
The main awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Lagos on December 14.
From top-tier categories like Movie of the Year and Best Director to light-hearted favourites such as Best Kiss in a Movie and Best Use of Food in a Movie, the 2025 nominee list celebrates the diversity of Nollywood.
The Best Actor category will see a tight contest among Ibrahim Yekini (Abanisete), Femi Adebayo (Seven Doors), Tobi Bakre (Farmer’s Bride), Razaq Adoti (Son of the Soil), Gideon Okeke (Blackout), and Jide Awobona (Inspector Jero).
Meanwhile, the Best Actress lineup features Chioma Chukwuka (Seven Doors), Gbubemi Ejeye (Farmer’s Bride), Folu Storms (Red Circle), Padita Agu (Blackout), Efe Irele (My Mother Is a Witch), and Florence Nwachukwu (Fury).
Renowned directors Niyi Akinmolayan, Adebayo Tijani, and Tope Adebayo lead the Best Director category for their standout works.
